Departing from Halkolaituri in the North Harbour, less than a 10-minute walk from Market Square, Kathrina is a sailing ship built in 1949 and later restored into a three-masted schooner, offering experience cruises through Helsinki’s picture-perfect archipelago. On Kathrina, the atmosphere is not created by rush or separate programme numbers, but by the experience itself — the chance to soak up the feeling of old-world sailing without needing any previous sailing experience.

During the trip, those who want to can help raise the sails and even take the helm for a moment. But if you would rather simply take it easy and enjoy the scenery, that is more than welcome too. Adding even more flavour to the experience are the ship’s own bar and professional kitchen, where you can order tasty archipelago-style food to enjoy during the cruise when booking your ticket.

Kathrina moves mainly by wind power and only uses its engine when truly necessary, so it's also a sustainable way to enjoy maritime Helsinki.

Three-hour daytime and evening cruises are arranged during the summer season, and children are welcome too, with under-threes joining free of charge. You can come solo, as a pair, or with a larger group, but it is a good idea to book your tickets in advance.
